The Pakistan Army on Wednesday resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
"Pakistan ceasefire violation started at 8.15 a.m. They used mortars, automatics and small arms. Indian positions retaliated strongly and effectively," a Defence Ministry official said.
"No casualty or damage has been reported on our side," the official added.
India and Pakistan entered into a ceasefire in 2003 along the LoC, which divides Jammu and Kashmir between the two countries.
