The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed a PIL challenging a Delhi government notification increasing the circle rate of agricultural land by three times.

Justice G. Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath said there was no merit in the plea.

The petition by Gopal Gupta said the August 4 decision by the Aam Aadmi Party government was taken without the approval of Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung and sought its quashing.

It said Jung was the competent authority to take the final decision on the issue. The notification has already been stayed by the Lt. Governor.

The government fixed the new rates in the range of Rs.1 crore to Rs.3.5 crore per acre from the earlier Rs.53 lakh per acre.

The Delhi government on Thursday passed a resolution against Lt. Governor's stay on the increase in circle rates.
