PM condoles Ananthamurthy's death

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday condoled the death of writer U.R. Ananthamurthy, terming it a loss to Kannada literature.

"U.R Ananthamurthy's demise is a loss to Kannada literature. My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace," Modi said in a statement.

The 82-year-old Jananpith awardee died in Bangalore Friday evening after a brief illness.
