Punjab to fill over 1.13 lakh vacant posts

With the next assembly elections just over one year ahead, the Punjab government on Thursday announced that over 1.13 lakh vacant posts in the state will be filled soon.

The Punjab cabinet, at its meeting here on Thursday, gave the nod to the launching of a major recruitment drive to fill 113,766 vacant posts in various departments.

The vacant posts will be filled within one year, Advisor to Chief Minister on National Affairs and Media Harcharan Bains said here.

Bains said the cabinet directed the state government to complete the process of recruitment on these posts in "fast track mode", to be completed within a year.

 

The major departments in which these posts would be filled are: 30,000 in school education; 39,821 in power sector; 5,301 in health department, 3,500 in agriculture, 4,566 in cooperation department, 2,198 in higher education, 2,072 in irrigation, 2,852 in public works; 2,628 in revenue, 3,952 in transport and 1,584 in water supply and sanitation departments.
