Security has been increased at Delhi Police Special Cell office here after intelligence alerts that it may be attacked to free Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal lodged there, said a police official Saturday.

According to police, the Intelligence Bureau alerted the Delhi Police last week that terrorists were planning to strike to free Bhatkal, who is in the custody of the Special Cell for the past one month.

"The security was beefed up with the deployment of more men in and around the office premises in Lodhi Colony area of south Delhi," a police officer told IANS.

Bhatkal was arrested by the National Investigation Agency Aug 28, 2013. He is accused of being allegedly involved in numerous terror attacks across the country.
