Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday greeted the nation on the occasion of Janmashtami.
"Hope the people will celebrate Janmashtami with great pomp and show and will remember the teachings of Lord Krishna which he had delivered in the Bhagavad Gita," Sonia Gandhi said.
She also said that karmanye vadhikaraste (duty to work, without expecting reward) was among those preachings that are important to Indian culture and tradition.
Lord Krishna has inspired people by his spiritual power, Gandhi said.
The birthday of Lord Krishna, known as Janmashtami, is celebrated with great gusto across the country every year.
