Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has opened disciplinary proceedings against Legia Warsaw and Borussia Dortmund for incidents during the match both clubs played in the Polish capital in the group stage of the Champions League.

The charges apply to a match played Wednesday and Legia allegedly were involved in public disturbances, the lighting of flares, throwing objects, racist behaviour, poor organisation and blocking stairs, reports Efe.

Dortmund were charged with also igniting flares and throwing objects.

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body will be responsible for analysing the charges and will issue its ruling on September 28, it was announced on Friday.

Dortmund won 6-0 at Warsaw and Legia issued a statement the next day in which they denied that their devoted fans shouted 'racist chants' at players and fans of the German team.
