UGC nod for first railway university

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday announced signing of a Letter of Intent for the country's first railway university.
The Union Human Resource Development Minister said he would "fast-track" the setting up of a defense university as well.
"University Grants Commission (UGC) today granted Letter of Intent for first Railway University. Will fast-track defence University also," Javadekar said in a tweet.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had spoken of setting up India's first railway university in Vadodara, Gujarat, in addition to "two new full-fledged schools of planning and architecture" while presenting the Union Budget earlier this year.
