An Iranian lawmaker Monday said that any possible failure of talks between Iran and six world powers over Tehran's nuclear energy programme would be the result of the US's excessive demands.
"If nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 fail to produce results, it will be due to the US's unacceptable excessive demands," Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iranian Majlis, said.
Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting head of French parliament's defence and armed forces committee, Patricia Adam, Press TV reported.
Boroujerdi said that Iran respected its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Statute.
Iran and P5+1 group or the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, Russia, China, France and Britain - plus Germany have been discussing ways to iron out differences and start drafting a final deal that would end the West's dispute with Iran over the country's nuclear energy programme.
