Expressing "shock" over the media "hounding him like a "criminal", retired Supreme Court judge A.K. Ganguly Thursday regretted that he was denied a copy of the affidavit of a woman law intern accusing him of sexual assault.

"I am shocked...I am sad...Media is hounding me like a criminal," Ganguly told the media here.

"Why have I been denied the copy of affidavit...When I appeared before the three judge Supreme Court panel, I was told it was confidential. My reputation is on stake I should get the copy,' said Ganguly, chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission.

A three-judge panel of the apex court probed the matter and found Ganguly guilty of "unwelcome behaviour".

Ever since that indictment, strident demands have been made from several quarters that Ganguly resign as WBHRC chief.

Ganguly, however, has rubbished the allegations against him and refused to resign.

"I have never thought such incident can happen in my life," he said during the day.
