The government may be finding the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on coal to be too hot to handle but the fireworks have only just begun. A senior CAG official said the current Comptroller Vinod Rai is retiring in May 2013 and about 100 reports on various issues including those from states are expected to be completed before that. The significant ones include public-private partnership projects under the highways authority, the employment guarantee scheme, the rural health mission and the government’s farm debt waiver plans. Obviously, the CAG reports are expected to keep the government on its toes next year too.
