Uninor, now rebranded Telenor (India), is the only telecom operator in India that has been offering compensation for call drops to its mobile users for local Telenor-to-Telenor calls. The compensation will be extended to cover STD and ISD calls as well. However, Telenor, in its responses to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, regarding the latter's consultation paper on compensation to users for call drops, said offering compensation should not be mandatory and was best left to the operator to decide. "It should be a tool for consumer delight and should not be construed as a scheme/offer," it said. All other operators have opposed such compensation.
