Letters: Well-being is important

Business Standard New Delhi
Apropos the report, "India slips 5 notches to 105th on Human Capital index" (June 29), it is sad that such a vast country with more than 65 per cent of its population below 35 years of age scores so low on the index.

There are several reasons for this dismal performance. The success of an organisation is determined to a large extent by the quality of employees it has and the kind of investments it makes for their well-being. Employees are the biggest and most complex asset of an organisation. But many an organisation treats this asset quite shabbily. People are to a nation what employees are to an organisation.

As Swami Vivekananda rightly said, a hundred people wholeheartedly doing a job is better than a thousand doing the same job half-heartedly. In the same way a willing and satisfied worker can definitely do wonders to his job as well as his nation.
