While Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar deserves credit for the development of the state, it must be borne in mind that for the most part of his tenure, it was the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that kept him company in administering the state. Now that the Janata Parivar alliance has won the Assembly elections and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has lost, let us see what further progress the state makes under Kumar with the guidance of a 'pro-poor' and 'pro-people' party - the Rashtriya Janata Dal - led by the astute statesman Lalu Prasad.
