Our 'communist' advisor

Though Chief Economic Advisor to the finance ministry Kaushik Basu is careful to emphasise his apolitical stance, his mother seems to have mixed up the word “economist” with “communist”. Basu, therefore, jokes about how he overheard his 91-year-old mother telling her friend that her well-known “communist” son is going to attend an international conference of world-renowned “communists” who would come together to save the world.
