Projecting an 'inclusive' spirit

Tennis player Leander Paes may be nominated to the Rajya Sabha

In April 2018, three nominated members of the Rajya Sabha will retire. They are businesswoman Anu Aga, former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and actor Rekha. Tennis player Leander Paes is being considered as a replacement for Tendulkar. It would give the Narendra Modi government an opportunity to showcase its “inclusive” spirit. Of course, the government had nominated boxer M C Mary Kom in 2016, who is from the Christian faith.
