Taxes: Missed opportunity

A few hours after AR Rahman won two Oscars for his performance in Slumdog Millionaire, former finance minister P Chidambaram, who is now the home minister, suggested that tax exemption be given if there is a cash component to the awards. It turns out the awards only have a gold-plated statue which weighs 3.85 kg and is 34 cm tall.
