The Congress has been hinting at an alliance between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for months now. While campaigning in West Bengal last weekend, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi once again pitched the two of them as a single enemy. "Mamataji talked of providing jobs to 70 lakh people, while Modiji had said two crore jobs will be given by his government. But not a single person has got employment," Gandhi claimed. Reminding his audience that Banerjee had forged an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party earlier, he said, "In Bengal, Banerjee is running a dictatorship and her friend in Delhi, Modiji, is spreading lies."
