Facebook's $19-billion acquisition of mobile-messaging service provider WhatsApp has set new standards for the valuation of tech companies and made billionaires of its founders. What it also seems to have done is given fresh life to old jokes. Users on social media pointedly keep asking why Mark Zuckerberg paid all that money for WhatsApp when he could have downloaded it for free.
