When Modi surprised Lei

After a meeting with Xiaomi Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lei Jun, who was visiting India last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted selfies with him on Facebook and Twitter. Nothing unusual in that — the PM is known to share interesting meetings and anecdotes on social media — except that Lei was surprised by a suggestion from Modi during their meeting. The PM urged Lei to install all government apps on Xiaomi’s popular smartphones before shipping them out to customers. Lei says he was thrilled with the suggestion because Xiaomi believes that “smartphones are drivers of economic growth”. “I
