Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s convenor Arvind Kejriwal will be sworn in as the chief minister of Delhi on Saturday at the Ramlila Maidan.
Kejriwal, along with his six Cabinet ministers – Manish Sisodia, Rakhi Birla, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Somnath Bharti, Girish Soni and Satyendra Kumar Jain – will take oath at the venue on December 28. The development came after President Pranab Mukherjee accepted Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung's proposal of government formation in the capital.
The AAP, which had a dream debut in the Capital and won 28 seats, will form the government with the outside support of Congress, which grabbed 8 seats.
"We have been told that Mr Jung has received the President's communication and the ceremony will take place at 12 pm where all the ministers will take oath," said Sisodia.
It is the same venue where the Jan Lok Pal movement took off in 2011 and later on, Kejriwal had announced the formation of a political party in August last year.
Meanwhile, after a day of high drama, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Vinod Kumar Binny, who was reportedly upset over not getting a place in the party's likely Cabinet ministers, said on Wednesday that he would continue to be with the party.
On being asked if he would continue to remain with the party, Binny told Business Standard: "When did I separate from the party? I continue to work with the party and would do so."
The AAP had sent a list of Cabinet ministers to the Lt Governor on Tuesday. However, Binny's name was not included in the list. According to reports, upset over this, party workers gathered at Arvind Kejriwal's residence late evening on Tuesday to convince Binny to take up the post of parliamentary secretary to the chief minister.
Binny, however, clarified: "I am not upset at all. All these are rumours." But he did not deny the fact that a press conference could be held later in the day. He said, "You would get to know the place and time (of the presser) soon." On the passing of the Jan Lok Pal Bill in the Capital, Kejriwal said that there is an interesting fact that makes it a bit uneasy to pass the law. "I have been told that the central government had given an order and said that if the Delhi government has to pass a law, prior permission should be taken from the Centre. This, I feel, is wrong," Kejriwal told media channels outside his residence in the morning on Wednesday.
Kejriwal also said that the AAP is doing their homework on the 18 issues raised by the party.
