The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Tuesday staged a walkout separately from the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council over law and order issue and non-payment of cane dues.
The issue of law and order was raised by BSP members led by Naseemuddin Siddiqui through an adjournment notice demanding a debate during Zero Hour. The BSP members said there was "jungle raj" in the state as incidents of murder and rape were taking place frequently.
They demanded a two-hour discussion should be held on the issue during which leader of the House Ahmad Hasan should informed the house about the growing crime rate. Dissatisfied with the government's reply, the BSP members walked out of the House. Rejecting the notice Chairman Ganesh Shanker Pandey asked the government to take action against those guilty in incidents cited by the BSP members. BJP also raised similar issue through a separate notice and later dissatisfied with the reply of the government staged a walkout.
