Chhattisgarh Congress brings 'no-confidence' against Raman Singh govt

Congress leaders 'perturbed' with performance of BJP govt in Chhattisgarh since May 2013 Naxal attack on its leaders in Bastar

BS Reporter Raipur
Chhattisgarh’s main opposition party Congress today moved a no-confidence motion against the Raman Singh government.

“The Congress party was compelled to move the no-confidence motion as it had lost confidence in the Raman Singh government in view of series of developments that took place over a period of last two years,” Leader of Opposition T S Singhdeo said while moving the motion in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly today.

He said the Congress leaders were perturbed with the performance of the BJP-led government in Chhattisgarh right from May 2013 Naxal attack on its leaders in Bastar and yesterday’s incident when supporters of ruling party attack the house of Congress president Bhupesh Baghel. The opposition members raised the issue of alleged attack on Baghel’s house, alleging that it was an attempt to threat the Congress legislators from raising the issue of multi-crore public distribution scam exposed in state-run civil supplies corporation.

On Monday, Congress had moved a notice for adjournment motion on the PDS scam.  Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal dismissed the motion. The Congress members created uproar and disrupted the business forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for the day.

This would be the first no-confidence motion against the Raman Singh government’s third term.
