Speculations galore in Congress on Sheila Dikshit's comments

One theory doing rounds is that BJP is the lesser devil for Dikshit considering how AAP was trying to investigate her role in CWG scam

Although the Congress was swift to distance itself from former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit's "shocking" statement backing a BJP led government formation in the capital, Congress circles are abuzz with speculation of what led to Dikshit's contrarian stance. While there is one view that the former CM who is an astute politician was eager to see the BJP fail to prove its majority without the adequate numbers and so was egging it on; there was also the other view that Dikshit who had faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Aam Aadmi Party would prefer to see BJP form the government at any cost than AAP.

"Remember she was firmly against the Congress supporting the fledgling AAP government but the AICC went ahead with it", said a senior Congress leader.

 

AICC incharge of Delhi Shakeel Ahmed yesterday, categorically stated on Twitter that both Delhi state Congress and the National Congress were opposed to Dikshit's stand.

Ahmed said, "Shiela Ji's comments on govt formation in Delhi, is her personal opinion. Congress MLAs & AICC are totally against extending support to BJP."

Sheila baiters within the party of which there are aplenty, however were of the view that Dikshit was trying to secure herself against future investigations. Incidentally Dikshit's role in the alleged CWG scam had come under the scanner during the AAP- led government's tenure in Delhi.

Although Dikshit has indicated that she is not keen on returning to Delhi politics, which has assuaged several local leaders; her recent comments have caused a flutter in the party. Congress has officially termed her remarks as "personal opinion."
