Communal tension prevailed in Karari area here when the processions of Goddess Durga and Tazia were being taken out, police said on Thursday.
On Tuesday, a route in Rakswara village, through which Durga idol was to be taken for immersion, was blocked by members of the other community, they said.
The next day, people attempted to block the road when Tazia was to be taken for burial, leading to tension in the village, they added.
Police took timely action and brought the situation under control. Heavy police force has been deployed in the village to avert any untoward incident.
