Lloyds Metals & Engineers commissioned a 30 MW power plant at Chandrapur

Lloyds Metals & Engineers Ltd - a pioneer in Coal Based DRI Manufacturing - has commissioned a 30 MW co-generation Waste Heat Recovery Based (WHRB) Power Plant at its Ghugus, Chandrapur (Maharashtra) plant site.

With this co-generation WHRB plant, the Company will be able to ensure recovery of waste energy into productive energy at its DRI Plant. These WHRB boilers are augmented by an AFBC (Atmospheric Fluidized Bed Combustion) of .90 MT capacities.

 

These boilers are manufactured by the Engineering Division of Lloyds Steel Industries - a group Company - in collaboration with ERK, Germany. With the commissioning of the AFBC, the Company would be in a position to commercially sell any surplus power to the Power Distribution Companies in Maharashtra.

The Company has already entered into a contract for power of sale on firm basis for the sale of nearly 200 million units at a rate of Rs 5.495. In addition to power sales, the commissioning of this project will entail a reduction in power cost in Cost of Production and allow annualized savings/earnings of over Rs 500 million. This project is eligible for availing Carbon Development Mechanism (CDM) benefits of over 1,00,000 CER (Certified Emission Reductions) for which effective steps have already been undertaken by the Company
