1,018 achievers receive Rs.1.02 crore reward

As part of paying tribute to late Dr N Mahalingam, the founder of Kumaraguru College of Technology here, a total of Rs.1.02 crore was today conferred on 1,018 students, based on academic merit, all round achievement and leadership.

A function was organised at the College campus as part of the Founders Day, to remember the inspiring life of the philanthropist, industrialist and educationist, Mahalingam, a Padma Bhushan awardee.

Mahalingam's life had significant impact that cut across categories, combining strong business acumen with keen social responsibility, worked for education, preservation of Tamil culture and tradition and espoused Gandhian ideals and spiritual path of Vallalar, speakers at the function said.
 

KCT has conferred scholarships of Rs 10,000 each on thousands of students since 1984 based on academic merit, all round achievement and leadership and this year 1,018 students were selected to receive Rs.1.02 crore.
