A dozen Magistrates will be deployed in and around Dalma wildlife sanctuary to ensure bloodless hunting festival of tribal community to be observed on May 16 in Dalma forest here.
Based on the information gathered by the Deputy Conservator of Forest and Regional Director (Elephant Project) that tribals laced with traditional weapons would observing hunting festival known as 'Vishu' or 'Sendra' festival, Sub-Divisional Officer (Dalbhum), Suraj Kumar in a notification said 12 magistrates would be deployed in and around Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary on May 15 to ensure peaceful and bloodless hunting festival.
Stating that hunting of innocent animal was illegal under Wildlife Conservation Act, 1972, Kumar said the magistrates would be accompanied by adequate police force to maintain law and order during the festival under the supervision of the Divisional Forest Officer.
Kumar also directed the East Singhbhum District Public Relation Officer to inform people through Public Address System that killing of innocent animal was not only punishable, but also disturbs the ecological balance.
The SDO appealed the tribal community to observe the festival without harming animals.
