15.34 lakh children given polio drops in 13 Haryana districts

As many as 15.34 lakh children below five years of age were today administered polio drops in 13 districts of Haryana on the first day of sub-national immunisation round of pulse polio campaign 2013-14.

59 per cent of the total 26 lakh targeted children were covered on the first day, a health department spokesperson said.

He said the districts covered today included Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mewat, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat and Yamunanagar.

The spokesperson said the campaign will continue for and health workers will go door-to-door for vaccination.

To effectively carry out the campaign, a total of 10,573 booths were setup and manned by over 40,000 health officials.
