2 Indians held in Nepal for illegally carrying Indian currency

Two Indians have been arrested in Nepal on charges of illegally possessing Indian currency worth Rs 115,500.

The two were arrested on Saturday from Tribhuvan International Airport here as they were about to board an Air India flight to New Delhi.

Those arrested from the airport have been identified as Naresh Arruri, 34, and Guruvaiah Nandipati, 36, hailing from Hyderabad, a police officer told PTI today.

They were carrying bank notes with denominations 1,000 and 500.

It is illegal to possess Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 Indian bank notes in Nepal.

The duo has been sent to police custody.

Further investigation is underway in the matter, according to the duty officer at the airport security.
