2 killed, 5 injured in clash over sand mining

Two persons were killed and five others injured in a clash between two groups at Suhagpur village here over a sand mining dispute, police said today.

The incident, involving village head Pankaj Singh, took place yesterday when Singh's group clashed with the group of one Kalu Chowdhary.

According to police, Singh and Chowdhury are involved in extracting sand from Yamuna riverbed and due to some dispute both the groups clashed with each other and even resorted to gun-fighting which left two persons dead.

The deceased have been identified as Ramkishan (26) and Mahesh (22), both from Chowdhury's group, while the five others who were critically injured have been referred to S N Medical Hospital in Agra.
 

Two persons have been arrested in this connection so far, Circle Officer Rajesh Sonkar said, adding, nine other accused are at large and a search for them is on.
