Two Nepalese nationals were beaten to death by unidentified assailants and bodies dumped into a ditch at Sheel village in Shoghi, 13 Km from here, police said today.

Navin (32), a resident of Ponta Sahib, and Chandra Prakash (19), a resident of Renuka, succumbed to death due to multiple head injuries and their blood-soaked bodies were recovered from the ditch after some locals informed the police, they said.

The deceased were brothers-in-law and worked as driver and conductor of a public transport vehicle which has also been recovered, Shimla Superintendent of Police Ompati Jamwal said.

A case under section 302 (murder) of IPC has been registered as it is a "clear cut" case of murder and culprits would be arrested soon, he said.

A police team headed by Additional SP Parveer Thakur reached the spot and extricated the bodies, examined the crime spot and collected forensic and other evidence.

The probe was in progress. No arrest has been made so far, he said.

Police were suspected that it was a pre-planned murder and was investigating all aspects of the case.
