20 foreigners detained for illegally staying in Delhi

Twenty foreigners, including a minor, who were staying in south Delhi illegally were detained by police today and later handed over to the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

On the basis of an input received from the FRRO, the south district police conducted early morning raids in Vasant Kunj and Malviya Nagar.

Over 100 police personnel, supervised by an assistant commissioner of police carried out the exercise. A total of 20 foreigners - 19 women and a child - belonging to different central Asian countries were briefly detained, police said.

It was found they had entered India without proper travel documents. They were handed over to the FRRO staff for further action, they added.
 

Police said legal action is being initiated against the owners of the places where these foreigners were staying without valid documents.
