A 26-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death when he tried to intervene in an altercation between an autorickshaw driver and another man in south-west Delhi's Garhi village, police said today.
According to police, the incident took place in the afternoon yesterday with the deceased having been identified as one Mohd Saddam.
"As Saddam tried to intervene (during the altercation), the youth got into an argument with him, which soon led to a scuffle.

"The accused youth then allegedly stabbed Saddam on the chest with a sharp object. Thereafter, both the accused and the autorickshaw driver fled the spot, leaving Saddam lying in a pool of blood," said a police official.
A local called up the police control room following which Saddam was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The post-mortem report later disclosed that a sharp object had pierced his heart, the official added.
A case under Section 302 (murder) has been registered at Amar Colony police station in connection with the killing, police said, adding that the absconding accused, who is in his early 20s, has been identified while the autorickshaw driver, too, is being tracked for more leads.
Police said they were yet to ascertain the reason behind the scuffle and why the accused had attacked Saddam.
