Nepalese police have arrested 27 persons on the charges of eve-teasing and hooliganism.
Three of the 27 people have been booked for eve teasing while the rest have been charged with hooliganism, said Purnachandra Joshi, Superintendent of Police at Siraha District Police Office.
The three accused were allegedly involved in teasing girls from another village while they were at Saraswar temple to offer holy water at the Sarawar shrine last Monday.
Clashes had erupted after the incident last week and there were reports of houses being set ablaze, following which the police clamped curfew in the area for two days from Friday.
There was no news of anyone being injured in the incident.
An all-party meeting was convened on Monday and a five-point agreement was reached to calm down the situation, the police said.
Earlier, a meeting held among the representatives of political parties, civil society, and local leaders had reached consensus on establishing an armed police base camp, and unconditional release of detainees, among others.
