A 32-year-old villager from Sahapur taluka here has been missing since March this year with his brother alleging that he was abducted over a land sale dispute, police said today.

According to PI Sanjay Dhumal of Sahapur police station, a complaint about victim Datta Bhoir was lodged last night by his brother, Mangesh, following which police have launched a massive manhunt to trace him.

According to the complaint, Bhoir and one Kapil Jadhav of Padgha had sold a land in Gaidhara of Sahapur to a customer from Mumbai by fabricating certain land records.

Mangesh suspects that after the sale, the duo got into a dispute over the hefty sale amount following which Jadhav kidnapped his brother and since then Bhoir has been missing, police said.

The brother, a resident of Atgaon in Sahapur, also fears that Datta might have been killed.

The land was sold approximately six months prior to March, the complainant added.

Police have registered an offence under IPC section 364 (kidnapping) and further probe is underway, police said, adding, no arrests have been made so far.
