A 32-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her residence in Pulwama, police said today.
The woman set herself on fire at her Nowpora residence in Kakpora area last evening, a police spokesman said.
The woman was shifted to a hospital in a critical condition but succumbed to burns during treatment.
The motive behind the woman, a divorcee, taking such an extreme step was not known immediately, the spokesman said, adding that the police have registered a case and started investigation.
