402 cartons of liquor seized in UP

The district excise officials today seized 402 cartons of liquor, being smuggled from Haryana into the state, at Bibipur police check post here.

Excise officials led by Inspectors Himmat Singh and Avdhesh Mishra intercepted a vehicle and seized the liquor, District Excise Officer Kunrendra Singh said.

However, two persons who were travelling in the vehicle managed to escape, he said.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC and section 60 of the Excise Act was registered against the absconding accused, he said.
