5.1 magnitude earthquake hits Mexico: USGS

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit southern Mexico, shaking buildings in Mexico City hundreds of kilometers away but so far causing no damage or casualties, officials said.
The quake struck at 2017 GMT (0147 IST today) in Guerrero state near Xochistlahuaca, close to Mexico's Pacific Coast, the US Geological Survey said.
The epicenter was not far from the border with Oaxaca state, but 300 kilometres (185 miles) away from Mexico City.
"Earthquake alert, pending," the mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Angel Mancera, initially said on Twitter, before later adding: "City review protocol completed. No damage or injuries.
