Five people from Gujarat were killed and another was seriously injured in a road accident near Chonk village under Kalpi police station area here, early this morning, police said.
The victims belonging to Gujarat were returning from Vindhyachal shrine to Vadodra when their car clashed near Chonk village, they said.
"The police had to break open the window to bring out the victims of whom five had died on the spot" , said Circle Officer Mahendra Kumar.
The injured were admitted to the hospital, he added.
The victims identified as Kanu bhai Upadhaya, Jagdish bhai Upadhaya, Jeetu bhai Upadhaya, Sandip bhai Upadhaya, Pankaj bhai Upadhaya and Babeen bhai Upadhaya.
Police suspect that the Sumo was hit by some truck which managed to escape and said the efforts are on to trace the vehicle.
