Rain-related incidents claimed five lives in Uttar Pradesh where rivers continued to flow in spate, while moderate to heavy rains lashed most parts of north India today.
It was a pleasant day in the national capital with cloud covers and showers keeping the temperatures within the normal level.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 33.5 degrees Celsius, which was normal for this part of the year while the minimum was at 23.7 deg C, three notches below normal, MeT officials said.
In UP, two persons each died in Gonda and Lakhimpur districts while one died in Ballia, taking the toll to 232 in rain-related incidents this season.
Ganga river is flowing above danger mark in Bulandshahr, Gazipur and Ballia, sources at Central Water commission said.
Sharda and Ghaghra were flowing above the red mark in different districts, they said.
Meanwhile, mercury soared by few notches above normal in Punjab and Haryana even as few places in the region were lashed by rains.
UT Chandigarh had a high of 34.2 deg C, even though rains lashed the city in the evening, giving relief to people from humid weather conditions, MeT department said.
In Haryana, Ambala and Bhiwani had a maximum of 35.2 deg C and 33.2 deg C respectively.
In Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala saw a high of 32.8 deg C, 35.2 deg C and 35 deg C, up by two notches above normal.
In Rajasthan, districts of Jaipur, Baran and Sawai Madhopur witnessed moderate to heavy rains.
