Five suspected Naxals allegedly involved in abduction of tribal school workers and looting valuables have been arrested in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said today.

A joint team of Central Reserve Police Force's 230th battalion and the district police nabbed them last evening in the forests under Gadiras police station limits, Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI.

The security forces were cordoning off Padampara Kondre village forests when they spotted the suspected Naxals who were trying to escape.

The arrested persons were identified as Podiyami Joga, (23), Kuhrami Muya (24), Kalmu Nanda (22), Rava Ganga (35) and Iddo Raju (26).

They were members of Dandakaranya Kisan Adivasi Majdoor Sangh, a frontal organisation of the Maoists, Singh said.

They were suspected to be involved in looting of laptop, bikes and machinery from a group which was recording information for the Aadhar cards at Kondre village in the district, and abduction of Anganwadi (tribal school) workers last year, the ASP added.
