550 cartons of IMFL seized in Bihar

Altogether 550 cartons of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) were seized from a truck by officials in district today, an said.

Acting on a tip off, an department team raided Marwan village and seized the liquor valued about Rs one crore from a truck this morning, Superintendent said.

The cartons were kept under several bags carrying potatoes, he said.

As per the Prohibition and Excise Act 2016, if any person imports, transports, manufactures, possesses, stores liquor, he shall be punished with minimum imprisonment of eight years which may extend up to 10 years besides fine which may extend to Rs 10 lakh.
