At least six persons were killed today when a two-storey building collapsed in a pre-dawn landslide in China's south Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, state media reported.

Authorities in Hechi city received an information during the wee hours that a two-story building in Fude village has collapsed in a landslide.

There were 15 households at the site. People saw one of the buildings was almost buried by rocks and soil, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Rescuers have recovered six bodies including that of the building's owner.

Some local villagers, who were sleeping when the accident took place, woke up by a loud noise, mistaking it as fireworks at first.

"But then I felt the house was shaking. I thought it was an earthquake and told my family to rush out," Lan Min, a villager said.
