prisoners are lodged in various prisons in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed the assembly today.

Though there was no provision to grant special parole to them, the government would give priority for remission of their sentence, Vijayan said during question hour.

Cases of women who have completed seven years imprisonment would be considered for release, he said.

Government was also planning to set up rehabilitation centres to keep mentally challenged prisoners, he said.

As a first step, such centres would be constructed at three central jails, where land is available, he said.
