677 arrested in last 48 hrs in Raj

Rajasthan police has arrested 677 people in last 48 hours as part of its special drive against petty crimes in different parts of the state, government officials said today.

Among those apprehended, 75 people were arrested for crimes against women, 169 for smuggling and sale of liquor, 342 for gambling, and 91 for possessing illegal possession of weapons, the official said.

The anti-crime drive would continue under a 60-day plan brought out by the new BJP government, he said.
