Dairy Development Minister Eknath Khadse today sacked seven directors of the state cooperative milk body, Mahanand, on various charges including undertaking foreign jaunts sans the permission of the government.
Announcing the decision in the Legislative Council, Khadse said the Mahanand chairperson, Vaishali Nagawade, vice chairman Rajendra Jadhav, member of director board and former chairman Vinayak Patil along with Deepak Patil (former vice chairman), Sunil Funde, Ramrao Wadkute and Nilkanth Kondhe have been sacked with effect from March 16.
Nagawade is said to be a close confidante of NCP MP Supriya Sule, daughter of party chief Sharad Pawar.

"These directors will not be allowed to contest the election for Mahanand for the next five years," he said.
The board of directors has been under the scanner of the Cooperative Registrar for allegedly spending Rs 90,000 and Rs 1.20 lakh on their tour to Israel and China from the account of Mahanand without taking the state government's permission.
There are 34 members on board of Mahanand while one seat is vacant.
