An ex-serviceman was stabbed to death by two bike-borne assailants in West Delhi's Moti Nagar area last night.

The incident occurred at around 8:30 PM when Paras Ram Punj (70), a resident of Moti Nagar, had gone to the nearby Sudarshan Park for an evening walk, police said today.

"When he was walking back towards his home, two bike-borne assailants intercepted him and attacked him with knives and stabbed him repeatedly. As Punj collapsed on the ground, the assailants fled the spot," said a police official.

Passersby made a PCR call after which police reached the spot and rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Doctors said that Punj died of excessive bleeding. The body has been sent for post mortem examination and the report is awaited.

Nobody has been arrested in the case as the attackers could not be identified.

Police suspect that it could be a case of personal enmity or property dispute as no valuables were robbed off from the ex-serviceman.

As per a senior official, the reason behind the attack was certainly not loot and investigators are probing the case from all possible angles.

A case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Moti Nagar police station.
