8 kg gold seized from car in TN

Customs officials today seized eight kg of gold from a car at the checkpost at Mathur near here and arrested two persons in this connection, police said.

Following a tip off that gold from Sri Lanka was being smuggled via Nagapattinam, they checked vehicles passing through the check posts, police said.

They found that a car was carrying eight kg of gold worth about Rs two crore hidden in a secret chamber. Two persons in the vehicle was arrested, police said.
