9 kg gold seized in Siliguri

Nine kgs of gold were seized from a bus passenger here today, revenue officials said.

Acting on a tip off, the officials intercepted a bus coming from Nepal border and caught hold of one Basant Sonar who had seven kgs of gold on his person and carrying two kgs of yellow metal in a bag.

The total seized gold was worth Rs 1.5 crore, they said.

The man was remanded to police custody for three days.
